Students of the Junior Refuge Biologist and Science Club at Manteo Middle School have teamed up with U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in an effort to expand their knowledge of local wildlife and refuges and why they are important. The club meets once a month with their science teacher and a wildlife refuge instructor. Students are learning about animals such as the Black Bear, Red Fox, and sea turtles. Students will also learn about digital nature photography and put those skills to use outdoors. The club is planning a field trip at one of the National Wildlife Refuges in Dare County.
